In the south of Iran, Khuzestan province is responsible for cultivating a significant part of the country’s date production. Almost 70% of the

dates cultivated in this province belong to the astemran.

And except for semi-dry dates with less than 18% humidity, this has made it have better and longer storage conditions than other dates.

The time to harvest astamaran dates or sayr dates is around the beginning of September to the beginning of October.

Export conditions of astemran dates

Sayer dates can be stored for a long time (about 15 months) in covered warehouses and at ambient temperature without any problems. It is

one of the major export dates that has many exports to Europe.

This age has facilitated the export of sayr dates, so that something like 45% of Iran’s date export share belongs to astamaran or sayr

dates. astemran dates are famous in Russia, North America, New Zealand, Europe and Arab countries. It includes about 40 to 50 percent of

Iran’s exported dates. But dates are not famous in the local market of Iran. The most common type of date packing for export is in 5 and 10

kg cartons. The possibility of shipping to distant countries without refrigerated containers is one of the significant advantages of this date.
