Bitumen standards in Iran

Bitumen standards in Iran

Bitumen standards in Iran|The National Standards Organization of Iran (ISIRI) has developed various standards for bitumen and bituminous

materials. These standards determine the physical and chemical properties of bitumen and are essential to ensure the quality and proper

performance of bitumen in various applications. Bitumen manufacturers in Iran must comply with ISIRI standards to ensure that their

products are suitable for use in their intended applications.

Join us as we introduce you to the most important bitumen standards in Iran:

National Standard of Iran No. 2950

Specifies the properties of bitumen and bituminous materials, including the following:

Definitions and abbreviations

Sampling

Test methods

Physical and chemical properties of bitumen and bituminous materials

This standard classifies bitumen based on the degree of penetration based on ASTM D 946. The degree of penetration is a measure of the

softness and flexibility of bitumen. Bitumens with a high degree of penetration are softer and more flexible. Bitumens with a low degree of

penetration are harder and more brittle.

Iranian National Standard No. 12505

This item determines the properties of road construction bitumens. Based on the ASTM D 6927 standard, road construction bitumens are

classified based on their performance in different environmental conditions.

This standard divides road construction bitumens into three main groups:

Slow-Curing Bitumens: These bitumens harden at low temperatures and soften at high temperatures.

Modified Slow-Curing Bitumens: These bitumens are modified with additives to improve their performance in different environmental

conditions.

Quick-Curing Bitumens: These bitumens harden faster at low temperatures and soften at high temperatures.

Iranian National Standard No. 12506

This standard determines the properties of emulsion bitumens. ASTM D 2397 classifies emulsion bitumens based on the type of emulsifier

and their physical properties.

This guideline divides emulsion bitumens into two main groups:

Cation-Cured Emulsion Bitumens: These bitumens are emulsified using cationic additives.

Anion-Cured Emulsion Bitumens: These bitumens are emulsified using anionic additives.
